As you read below, I'm going to present you an overview of the StarCraft: Brood War first playday!
Two of three Russian StarCrafter have already assured thier participatition in the second round - RiF)EX is going to try his luck tonight!

And now let's switch to the entire analysis of the results.
Group A
1. LG)KNiF - 3:0 - qualified 2. FiSheYe[pG] - 2:1 - qualified 3. AutumnWillow - 1:2 4. Mauro - 0:3
LG)KNiF (P) > AutumnWillow (Z) @ Dahlia of Jungle FiSheYe[pG] (P) > Mauro (?) @ Dahlia of Jungle FiSheYe[pG] (P) > AutumnWillow (Z) @ Martian Cross LG)KNiF (P) > Mauro (?) @ Martian Cross AutumnWillow (Z) > Mauro (?) @ Korhal of Ceres LG)KNiF (P) > FiSheYe[pG] (P) @ Korhal of Ceres
Quite expected final standings. I bet FisheYe just didn't want to show his main tactics and in the final game choosed Zergs instead of his basic race, however he is known for these tricks - FisheYe always has got some pronks in his arsenal of tactics.
Group B
1. iD.Twisted - 3:0 - qualified 2. LG)StYm - 2:1 - qualified 3. ZerK - 1:2 4. RuShy - 0:3
ZerK (Z) > RuShy (Z) @ Dahlia of Jungle iD.Twisted (T) > LG)StYm (P) @ Dahlia of Jungle LG)StYm (?) > ZerK (Z) @ Martian Cross iD.Twisted (T) > RuShy (Z) @ Martian Cross iD.Twisted (T) > ZerK (Z) @ Korhal of Ceres LG)StYm (?) > RuShy (Z) @ Korhal of Ceres
Same here. All the predicted results came true. Nothing interesting!
Group C
1. Advokate[S2] - 3:0 - qualified 2. DDang - 2:1 - qualified 3. -=ALFA=- - 1:2 4. Wicked[SGA] - 0:3
DDang (T) > -=ALFA=- (P) @ Dahlia of Jungle Advokate[S2] (T) > Wicked[SGA] (T) @ Dahlia of Jungle Advokate[S2] (T) > -=ALFA=- (P) @ Martian Cross DDang (T) > Wicked[SGA] (T) @ Martian Cross -=ALFA=- (P) > Wicked[SGA] (T) @ Korhal of Ceres Advokate[S2] (T) > DDang (T) @ Korhal of Ceres
A handsome group with interesting results. Certainly, everybody expected A2 to place second, however he exceeded all predictions and came first after beating Spanish top 1 and the top 1 (!!!) of WCG Korea. Great job, Advokate! I'm really looking forward to seeing his games in Single Elimination.
Below you can find a commentary of a WCG referee on the match of Russian against DDang - it is worth reading. He surmises, that if XellOs places first and Ddang comes second, then they will have less chances to face each other in the SE tour...
"Don't be amazed by this game. As to me - this means nothing, moreover in my opinion this loss of Korean proamer is something like tactical speculation. DDang just decided to favour Advokate with this victory. He built 5 barracks and attacked using marines, firebats and medics, against 6 tanks and 4 goliaths. Korean didn't even controlled is units, and as his army was annihilated, he wore "gg" and quited. After that XellOs stepped uo to him, shaked his hand, told something on Koran language and it seemed, that both playerrs were in excellent mood as though they knew what they are doing."
Group D
1. ToT)Strafe( - 2:1 - qualified 2. Beast - 2:1 - qualified 3. TiQ.DanY - 1:2 4. Artosis - 1:2
Beast (T) > TiQ.DanY (P) @ Dahlia of Jungle ToT)Strafe( (P) > Artosis (T) @ Dahlia of Jungle Artosis (T) > TiQ.DanY (P) @ Martian Cross ToT)Strafe( (P) > Beast (T) @ Martian Cross TiQ.DanY (P) > ToT)Strafe( (P) @ Korhal of Ceres Beast (T) > Artosis (T) @ Korhal of Ceres
No unexpected results? How common during the group stage! Let's move along.
Group E
1. SW)Day[9] - 2:1 - qualified 2. Eriador[pG] - 2:1 - qualified 3. HellGhost[pG] - 1:2 4. GermanStaR[pG] - 1:2
Eriador[pG] (T) > HellGhost[pG] (T) @ Dahlia of Jungle GermanStaR[pG] (Z) > SW)Day[9] (Z) @ Dahlia of Jungle Eriador[pG] (P) > GermanStaR[pG] (Z) @ Martian Cross SW)Day[9] (Z) > HellGhost[pG] (T) @ Martian Cross SW)Day[9] (Z) > Eriador[pG] (T) @ Korhal of Ceres HellGhost[pG] (T) > GermanStaR[pG] (Z) @ Korhal of Ceres
I'm just glad for Day (2nd place at WCG 2004 USA), who finally started doing his best at the world arena.
Group F
1. ToT)tomsOn( - 3:0 - qualified 2. ShamanOfDeath - 2:1 - qualified 3. 3wD.EnJoY - 1:2 4. SiRus - 0:3
ShamanOfDeath (T) > SiRus (?) @ Dahlia of Jungle ToT)tomsOn( (Z) > 3wD.EnJoY (T) @ Dahlia of Jungle ToT)tomsOn( (Z) > ShamanOfDeath (T) @ Martian Cross 3wD.EnJoY (T) > SiRus (?) @ Martian Cross ShamanOfDeath (T) > 3wD.EnJoY (T) @ Korhal of Ceres ToT)tomsOn( (Z) > SiRus (?) @ Korhal of Ceres
It was clear, that tomsOn will hit top 1 - the only plot was in struggle for the secondd place, in which the winner of WCG Romania demonstrated his opponent (the winner of WCG Bulgaria, btw :)) who was the best. =)
Group G
1. XellOs[yG] - 3:0 - qualified 2. yAn[S2] - 1:2 - qualified 3. KazioWichura - 1:2 4. RazoR - 1:2
Основные матчи: KazioWichura (Z) > yAn[S2] (T) @ Dahlia of Jungle XellOs[yG] (T) > RazoR (Z) @ Dahlia of Jungle XellOs[yG] (T) > yAn[S2] (T) @ Martian Cross RazoR (Z) > KazioWichura (Z) @ Martian Cross yAn[S2] (T) > RazoR (Z) @ Korhal of Ceres XellOs[yG] (T) > KazioWichura (Z) @ Korhal of Ceres
Переигровка: yAn[S2] (T) > KazioWichura (Z) @ Gorky Island yAn[S2] (T) > RazoR (Z) @ Dahlia of Jungle

Hm... should I comment anything? I guess I'm not to.
Group H
1. Androide[3D] - 4:0 - qualified 2. Legionnaire - 3:1 - qualified 3. Grrrr... - 2:2 4. NothX-MasteR - 1:3 5. iD.CocoA - 0:4
NothX-MasteR > iD.CocoA @ Dahlia of Jungle Androide[3D] > Grrrr... @ Dahlia of Jungle Androide[3D] > Legionnaire @ Martian Cross Grrrr... > NothX-MasteR @ Martian Cross Grrrr... > iD.CocoA @ Korhal of Ceres Legionnaire > NothX-MasteR @ Korhal of Ceres Androide[3D] > iD.CocoA @ Gorky Island Legionnaire > Grrrr... @ Gorky Island Legionnaire > iD.CocoA @ Dahlia of Jungle Androide[3D] > NothX-MasteR @ Dahlia of Jungle Andrew, you are the best! I don't have even right words to explain my surge of pride for him. There no tricks with second or first places - it was a REAL "group of death". 5 players, top world players, who currently play in Korea: Grrrr..., Legionnaire, MasteR! ANDROIDE GO-GO-GO! I feel sorry for Grrrr..., who couldn't make his way to the SE stage - he wasn not enough concentrated and prepared for his key game. Anyway, WELL DONE!
