I believe...
18:58 20 Nov '03 Comments: 1

This week has been an unending cycle of the same private message in IRC.  Sure each message has its own little uniqueness and variation, but ultimately it's the same message.

"Wheat, what's next?"

I wish I could answer that with 100% detail... but I cannot.  What I can do is offer a mini-glimpse into the future.  I can offer the community some confidence and satisfaction that I will continue doing what I love... Broadcasting Games and Supporting the Communities.

I will not give up... and very close friends to me are saying the same thing.  There are individuals out there who have the same amount of passion and confidence in Professional Gaming and Game Broadcasting as I do.  I've chosen to align myself with these individuals... and most importantly... align myself with people who BELIEVE.

Gaming itself is split into several communities.  Within these specific communities there is an obvious split:  Those who truly believe that Professional Gaming will one day be large and glorious, and those who believe it's on a consistent line which leads nowhere.  I honestly can't blame the latter group for being pessimistic about Pro Gaming's outcome... because let's be realistic, Pro Gaming has seen its ups and downs.  However, when I take a step back, and I see prominent individuals from various organizations and/or the community step up, take charge, and make things happen... I believe.  Like any unproven venture, it takes those who can think outside the box, it takes those who refuse to listen to the devil on their shoulder, and it takes those who truly believe...

It's time to think outside of the box.  Game broadcasting's birth has evolved gaming in one way or another... and now it's time to evolve game broadcasting.

I leave you with one final thought... it takes more effort to disbelieve, than it does to believe.

Broadcasting
Wheat - through your column, I can see that You feel yourself like on the crossroads. As You said, right now is the time to decide in which direction Game Broadcasting should go. IMHO, on-line broadcasting still will be very interesting for most of the people. Gather some people with "faith" around you and try to come up with something new, maybe on-line TV with game broadcasting? ( result of small brainstorm in my head, caused by a piece of green spice :D)

a very nice column !

i also think that gaming will prevent in later days. it is all a question of time and the reaction you are describing wheat is sth what i heard often. its so silly that the majority can not believe in a new upcoming community. as i said i believe in this community.
