Let me begin, by saying: Professional E-Sports will advance to new levels of competition, players, prizes, and opportunities.
Cyber sport, as we know it today, has changed from the most insignificant LAN, to a world wide phenomenon in a matter of 6/7 years, but the question is, where will it be in 6/7 years from now? Hopefully somewhere, where it’s easily accessible for anyone, who literally has an Internet connection and a workable computer.
Today, we can contact or speak to anyone we want, be it next door, or in a different country, it’s here for us and we’re sure using that to it’s full capabilities, but, being in South Africa… it’s somewhat more difficult than in many other countries around the world.
Level of competition is very limited in most parts of the world, due to circumstances such as: slow Internet, money, transportation and sponsorships. The only reason why “International” players are so much better than the un-recognised players across the world, is the fact that the level of competition is limited in these area’s. Take Russia for example, all their top players can and do play each other for practice and fun… they keep that minimum level of skill and talent because their not the only players with such abilities.
The more you play better players, the better you are going to become. Having a pathetically slow Internet connection is a major factor in this, only recently, South Africa just got ADSL and I really hopped for something that never happened. We get good local pings on servers, such as 20-60 on average with ADSL and ISDN… but as soon as we’d like to play Internationally, it’s not even remotely possible to connect and let alone, play on a server that is not local.
We stay at our standard of gaming, our top players are in classes of their own because no one else in the country can remotely touch them… Our players have tremendous abilities and skill, but we cannot grow and spread our wings due to these unfortunate circumstances.
Slowly, the whole world is advancing to Professional E-Sports and top corporations/companies are taking part. Cyber sport will be a world-renowned sport, it’s just a matter of time, patience, blood and motivation. The sooner the “out-side” world sees this, the better. You don’t have to be anything but your own god damn self in order to take part and compete in what you’re good at.
There is no one drilling your body each day for hours, in order to compete, you simply rock up, take part and if you win, you win… it’s as simple as that.
There are and will be more Cyber sport contestants than ANY other professional sport, already… Imagine in the years to come. The world is advancing with computers and technology… let us make the difference.
Looking forward to the ever-exciting future of electronic sports.
