The UK WCG Qualifiers start next week, on thursday the 3rd of October 2002. It kicks off with the Unreal Tourney finals and a HALO X-box competition, and then on the next day, Quake3 with AoE2. Now what I'm interested in, is Day2, and more specifically, the Quake3 competition. The venue is Earls Court, London, and the gates will open at 9am GMT, at which time, people will get a last chance to qualify for the main Q3 event, which will begin at 1pm GMT. I think there will be a generous turn out for Quake3, and quite a lot of good UK quake players. Among them are:
- Blokey (Auto-berth) - Sid (Auto-berth) - Hell (Qualified)
And some others.
Now the reason i only listed those names is because, at the moment those are the names i can see placing top 3 in the main qualifier on Friday. Now i'll do a small run down for each player:
Blokey: Well, what can i say about him, i mean if u ain't heard of him, SHAME ON YOU! He's just an amazing player, his aim is just really stupid (in the good sens:)), and he's solid on all the maps in the WCG map pool (ztn3tourney1, pro-q3tourney4, pro-q3dm6, q3tourney2), i would say that he has the best chance of getting 1st place at the main event. Blokey has the most experience in international lan events out of everyone who is currently an active player in the UK, and i'd be surprised to not see him go to Korea this year. Blokey was placed 1st at last years WCG Quals in the UK.
Sid: One of the fastest gamestyles is, with this player:). He moves around the maps really well, and his aim is really good. For the last couple of weeks i've been predicting him to come 1st in the Qualifiers this year, mainly because he's been playing amazingly well. He went with Blokey to Korea last year, and was placed in the top 16 in Korea. He came 2nd in the qualifiers last year, and has a good chance to get 1st this year.
Hell: This guy has been inactive for around 6 months, and only became active again around 1 month ago, so he could practice for the WCG Qualifiers. His aim sometimes is just unbelievable, but he isn't as strong as he used to be. I think he will do really well this year, and may get 2nd if he plays really well. He was placed 3rd last year, and i think he might be able to improve on that this time round.
These are the 3 contenders that i think will have the best chance in grabbing the 2 tickets that are avaliable for Quake3.
There have been a few good duelers that have come out of nowhere in the UK, Blunt has qualified in the Blueyonder online qualifiers. If those 3 players i mentioned earlier aren't careful, Blunt might just be 1 of the top 3. GL to him.
So ok, i have been talking about the players that I think will have the best chances in going to Korea from the UK this year, but which one do i think will take top place? Well, this is a hard one because they have all beaten each other before, although i don't know about Blunt because i haven't really been following his progress. But if i was pushed to say it, i would say that Blokey looks set to get 1st place, Sid 2nd, and Hell 3rd. I have to say tho, that if Blokey and Sid are in the final together (which i'm sure they will be), then there is a very good chance Sid might take 1st place, and put Blokey into 2nd, but only time will tell:). I'm really unsure about those 2:).
I hope that people will follow this, and watch the demos, because i'm sure some will be very good and enjoyable to watch.
Also, i'd like to say hi to every1 cos this is my 1st column, as i have recently become a writer on cyberfight.org:)

Because of the lack of "me" in these predictions, if22 has decided to donate his own predictions on me...:)
Dreg: Some people may know Dreg from the public duel servers in UK (mainly Barrysworld). You may have encountered him there some months ago. Although he just started playing duels, he already impressed some people mainly with his strong shaft. He improved rapidly since then and evolved into the strong duel player as we know now. After the c58 invitational tournament everyone knows who he is. He has got some working strat's plus the needed aim. I reckon he can get top2 if he isn't too nervous. And besides that, we haven't seen him in action on LAN yet (atleast I did not), so this could be a deciding factor as well; lan experience. But if he keeps himself together I think he can even win the whole thing!
