q2dm5 - a very interesting map, where a duel of two players transforms into a complex
chess battle. Lot of things on this map depend on your patience. Best way is not to hurry
- any mistake is able to substantially influence either you'll win or lose. And correcting
the mistake will be very difficult. Since you can eat-in a lot, the battles betwween
players end in a frag only few times - usually after about two/three RL hits in each
other, opponents leave the battleplace and start another eat-in session for the next round
- just like in box - the one who'll be able to hit enemy without having hurt is the winner
of the mini-battle. The map's main weapon is Rocket Launcher, but it's not a all-round
weapon for any situation - most times when it's used is in 'close combat' situations in
small corridors and when firing a 'control shot'. On longer distances the must used weapon
is Chaingun, being the most usual weapon used on this map. The Railgun is used here only
on a very long distances, since meeting an enemy with Chaingun or RL in close combat,
being equipped with Railgun most often results in your death.
This map has huge variety of tactics, but I'll describe only the most optimal ones.
Again, since the map gives the oppotunity to eat-in a lot without problems, you can't be
100% sure that any next time you meet an enemy you'll come out as a killer - both players
can die in that situation. So it's not recommended to pursue an enemy when he's low on
health, rather, you should go to the possible place where enemy is headed and finish the
frag there. You will have to move there using another route and as fast as possible, of
course.
There's another way to conquer the map, but it's not often used: try to take any armor
faster than enemy and crush the enemy. You will have to have complete control of
Megahealth, plus you'll need to fire perfectly from Chaingun and RL. Locating an enemy
while he's using a lift is also very effective. In order to achieve all that you'll need
to practice a lot with various types of enemies.
Very often
matches on q2dm5 end with one or two frags difference. If you're leading and there's
little time left till the end of the match, you can simply start the defense game or hide
from the enemy.
